Visualizing Relationships in Your Writing Pack

The Relationship Graph is an interactive feature that lets you see all the connections between characters, locations, and objects within your Writing Pack — plus the social groups they belong to. It's designed to help you track complex storylines, spot storytelling opportunities, and maintain consistency in your world-building.

How to Get Started

• Relationships Are Drafted for You: Once your pack has a couple of characters or locations, the AI generates their relationships automatically. You can edit or add to them anytime — edit a character and scroll to the Character Relationships, Location Relationships, Item Relationships, and Social Group Relationships blocks.
• Access the Relationship Graph: Open your Writing Pack. Below the Characters section, you'll find the Relationships block where you can view the graph. For very large packs the map opens on its own full-screen page instead — just click Open the full relationship map.

How Does It Work?

1. Color-Coded Nodes for Clarity
   • Main Characters: Displayed with a green border, making it easy to spot your protagonists.
   • Antagonists: Marked with a red border to highlight sources of conflict.
   • Locations: Shown as rounded squares with a blue-grey border, so places stand apart from people.
   • Objects: Items from your pack appear as their own nodes, and social groups are drawn as shaded areas around their members.
2. Relationship Lines
   • Dashed Lines: Represent character-to-character relationships (e.g., friendships, rivalries, romantic ties).
   • Solid Lines: Show connections involving locations (e.g., where characters live, where events happen).
   • Dotted Lines: Connect objects to each other.
   • Every line is labelled with the relationship type, and arrows show its direction.
3. Interactive Features
   • Click to Explore: Click on any character or location node to see all its relationships in detail. For instance, clicking a character will highlight their friends, enemies, associated locations, and more.
   • Drag and Rearrange: Rearrange nodes to customize the layout. This makes it easier to focus on specific parts of your graph or align the nodes in a way that makes sense to you.
   • Zoom and Fit: Use the zoom in, zoom out, and fit buttons to navigate big maps — especially handy on touch devices.
   • Filter by Type: Click a legend entry to hide or show that category of nodes.
